Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Steven Wuhs as Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, with responsibilities in the areas of experiential learning and undergraduate student success. Dr. Wuhs will begin his appointment at OSU on October 1, 2022.

Dr. Wuhs currently serves as Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Redlands where he has been a faculty member for almost 20 years. From 2016-2020, Dr. Wuhs served as Associate Provost for Internationalization at Redlands, in which role he oversaw international student support and coordinated university-wide study abroad and overseas risk management. In various administrative roles he worked on projects related to student success, and he advocated for DACA students and Latinx students by leading a campus HSI designation working group and grant writing team. During his first year at OSU, Dr. Wuhs will participate in La Academia de Liderazgo, a leadership academy run by the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities.

A scholar of Mexican and Latin American Politics, Dr. Wuhs was very active in faculty governance and leadership at Redlands prior to becoming Associate Provost for Internationalization. He was chair of the Department of Political Science and director of both Latin American Studies and International Relations.  He served twice on the faculty senate's Personnel Policies Committee and chaired the faculty assembly of the College of Arts and Sciences during the development of a new system of general education.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Wuhs to OSU and to this new role.

Sincerely,

Alix Gitelman, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs
