OrION

The Oregon NASA Space Grant Consortium (OSGC) is pleased to introduce the Oregon Internship Opportunity Network (OrION). OrION is a database for Oregon-based student internship opportunities submitted by OSGC affiliate members and hosted on location at the affiliate institution. Sea Grant Summer Scholars Program

The Summer Scholars Program is a PAID 10-week program that places undergraduate students from around the country with a variety of Oregon-based host organizations (tribal, public agency, non-profit, non-governmental). It provides a diversity of students with hands-on experience under the mentorship of a career professional.

College of Agricultural Sciences

Program Description:

This funding will support research opportunities for undergraduates who are engaging in formal research for the first time. While open to all undergraduate students in the College of Agricultural Sciences who are engaging in research for the first time, freshmen, sophomores, and first-year transfer students are especially encouraged to apply for this support. The objective of the Beginning Researchers Support Program is to enable undergraduates to explore research experiences under the guidance of a faculty researcher.

Program Description:

The Undergraduate Learning Experiences in Working with Big Data in Agriculture Internship summer program aims to provide undergraduate students classroom and experiential learning experiences in working with big data relevant to agricultural research and extension. Students will get first hand experience to gain an understanding of the scientific process, the appropriate use of quantitative methods, and an ability to work in teams and communicate effectively across disciplines.

Program Description:

The Branch Experiment Stations are off-campus research facilities located across Oregon.  They are located in regions of Oregon where they can have the most impact in helping stakeholders (farmers, ranchers, fishermen, food processing entrepreneurs) to address the critical issues specific to that locale.

Program Description:

The Continuing Researchers Support Program provides funding assistance for faculty and undergraduate students who are seeking support for a semi-independent research project. The student applicant identifies a faculty member to work with and to develop a research/work proposal. Proposals for this support should include evidence of strong faculty/student collaboration, previous student research experience, and a research topic in line with the ongoing research of the faculty and in service to the university.

Program Description:

The goal of this program is to increase the level of diversity among students who enter Ph.D. programs to pursue careers in university teaching and research by providing research opportunities to undergraduates that have been underserved.  Program objectives include: to provide students with the preparation to become research scholars; to stimulate serious consideration of graduate study; and to increase the number of successful underserved applicants and subsequent enrollment of these students in graduate school.

Program Description:

The goal of the OSG Summer Scholars Program is to contribute to a diverse ocean workforce that understands technical and social challenges facing coastal communities and the natural environment. The program helps prepare undergraduate students for graduate school, as well as careers in marine science, policy, management and outreach. Program Description:

The Oregon Wine Research Institute (OWRI) at Oregon State University offers an annual competitive program to fund undergraduate research internships in areas related to viticulture, enology, and economics. The goal is to provide highly-motivated undergraduate students with the opportunity to learn and actively participate in research related to grape and wine production. Scholars will have the opportunity to gain a broader learning experience outside of the classroom by working directly within the lab and/or research program of an OWRI faculty mentor.

The Center for Marketing and Consumer Insights (formerly named the C2C Marketing Lab) provides professional market research and consulting services in order to provide insight into markets, businesses and today’s consumers. Funded by the National Science Foundation, the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program offers students the unique opportunity to work on individual research projects, and participate in group field trips, seminars and science colloquia over a nine week period at CEOAS under the guidance of university scientists, who serve as mentors.

SURP funds are available to support undergraduate research in CEOAS. Available through an application/approval process, these funds are used to pay for supplies, expenses, analytical work, and travel costs related to an undergraduate research project. Program Description:

The Johnson Internship is available to First-Year students that have declared a CBEE major at the end of Spring 2022 term and registered for CBEE 211 in Fall 2022 or CBEE 280 in Summer 2022. In order to be competitive for summer positions after the sophomore year of schooling, they need to have demonstrated mastery of skills not taught or practiced at other schools, and this is what is provided by the Johnson Internship in the summer following the students first year in the CBEE program, when it is difficult to obtain a meaningful engineering internship.

Program Description:
The Engineering for Bouncing Back (EBB) and Clean Water Initiative (CWI) programs will provide research experiences for undergraduates (REU) in hand-on and interdisciplinary research on building resilient communities. Students will work with a faculty mentor and graduate student on a specific project and develop research skills to increase graduate school opportunities. In addition, students will participate in cohort-building activities such as field trips to communities facing unique challenges in resilience and film nights focused on community resilience stories.
