The University Innovation Alliance (UIA) is a consortium of public research universities dedicated to improving educational outcomes and degree completion for all students, particularly low-income students, first-generation students, and students of color.  At Oregon State University, we work with our colleagues in the UIA to identify innovative practices that will help more students graduate, adapt those practices to serve a broader range of students and then share what we learned with the higher education community. Insights from our collaboration with the UIA are informing the Undergraduate Student Success Initiative and numerous projects across campus to benefit students.

University Innovation Alliance Partners

The UIA institutions share a common commitment to supporting and enhancing success for all students, particularly those from first-generation, low-income and other traditionally underrepresented backgrounds.

Meet our UIA Fellow

Chris Gasser is OSU’s University Innovation Alliance (UIA) Fellow and a Data Analyst for Academic Affairs. As a Fellow, Chris pairs his experience as a student-centered professional and analyst with UIA initiatives, to positively impact student success on OSU’s campus. For the last 9 years, Chris has worked to expand access to support services for students enrolled in OSU’s largest and most challenging courses. Collaborating with campus partners, Chris uses data to better understand the student experience and advocate for institutional change. As a first-generation college student, Chris is particularly interested in helping higher education better serve students from underrepresented backgrounds.

Chris holds a M.A. in Rhetoric, Writing, and Culture from Oregon State University and graduate certificates in both Data Analytics and College and University Teaching. He previously earned a B.A. in English from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and A.A.s in English, Behavioral Sciences, and Arts and Cultures from Sierra College.
